FA Cup 2022/23
Proper old skool FA Cup fixture for me this weekend.

Our village team Anstey Nomads (Leicestershire) who are level 9 of the pyramid (same as Essex Senior League) have got through to the 6th qualifying round (last one before 1st round) + drawn Chesterfield at home. First time a side from that level has made it that far, so a likely hammering on the cards.

Ground has 1 toilet, 1 turnstile, no parking + in the last round the game had to kick off early as they’d booked the clubhouse out for a wedding of an evening. Usual attendance is approx 200, but 1500 tickets sold for tomorrow with no segregation…no idea who signed that off although you can no longer switch grounds (see Aldershot v Us in 91 when we swapped).

BBC are also gracing us with their presence with a 12.30 ko (via red button).

It’s what the FA Cup is / was all about.

Simple solution for the League cup. Any team in Europe should be ineligible for it.

The league cup & the FA Cup are about equal on the expected clubs to win them....it's just an excuse by them to say 'we're not bothered' they are just trying to save face imo and looking at the winners....

This is the FA Cup winners....

2008-09 Chelsea
2009-10 Chelsea
2010-11 Manchester City
2011-12 Chelsea
2012-13 Wigan Athletic
2013-14 Arsenal
2014-15 Arsenal
2015-16 Manchester United
2016-17 Arsenal
2017-18 Chelsea
2018-19 Manchester City
2019-20 Arsenal
2020-21 Leicester City
2021-22 Liverpool

Manchester's City & United seem to have hold of the League Cup between them.

If they have the winners a place in the CL it would be something worth winning again

Re: FA Cup 2022/23
Easier to win than the League cup but harder than the Conference which where we should be concentrating on as well as the PL.

Northern sold.

The raider is still about & doing the odd personal appearance as well as holding down a full time job.
He can be a bit of a pain when boozed but has raised well over a million for charities.
When i had a beer with him a few weeks back and he was telling me he might run for mayor of London.

Really struggling to give a fuck about either of the domestic cups this season.

The league and Europe is where it’s at for us.

Its a bit like when these League 2 teams get 2,000 every week and suddenly 10,000 are going to watch them play at Old Trafford.
People should support these little teams when it matters

Is it just me that hopes these sort of teams get beat 27-0 with lots of pictures of howling kids ,weeping grannies & a dog that runs on the pitch before dropping dead at the referees feet?

A nice bit of prize money at stake for the lower step clubs £3k plus for the losers £9k for the winners.
I might head to Borehamwood v Wealdstone tomorrow.

Saw that fixture yesterday and had to look Anstey up, genuinely never heard of them and I'm not bad on my non-league clubs.

Good luck mate.

Enjoy the day whatever happens.
